In front of a capacity Moroccan crowd that had come hoping to witness a fairytale finish for the host nation, it was Nigeria who stole the spotlight with an electrifying second-half display. The comeback not only silenced the stadium but also reinforced Nigeria’s unshakeable status as the most successful women’s team on the continent.

Morocco’s Dream Start Turns to Nigerian Masterclass
The match opened in dazzling fashion for Morocco. Captain Ghizlane Chebbak sent the home fans into raptures with a curling effort from outside the box in the 12th minute, beating Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie at full stretch. Twelve minutes later, Sanaâ Mssoudy made it 2-0, finishing coolly from Ibtissam Jraidi’s pass.
At halftime, it looked as though Morocco were on the cusp of history — poised to become only the fourth nation to win the continental crown after Nigeria, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea.
