After a nail-biting NWFL Super 6 showdown that ended in disappointment for both, Edo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons are set to meet once again, this time in the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup. The two teams are not only battling for a chance to reach the final but are also driven by the desire for revenge after their goalless draw in the final match of the Super 6.

The NWFL Super 6 final match between Edo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons, played on pitch 1, was always expected to produce the tournament champion. With Nasarawa Amazons leading the standings with 8 points and their form at the tournament, they only needed a win of any margin, and the results from any other venue wouldn’t have mattered to them, as they would secure the title. Edo Queens, on the other hand, also had a mathematical chance of retaining their trophy if they could score big against Nasarawa and get some help from other venues.

While the favour Edo Queens sought was delivered by Rivers Angels, who defeated Remo Stars Ladies 2-1, Bayelsa Queens’ demolition of Naija Ratels 4-1 required Edo Queens to score 4 unreplied goals against Nasarawa Queens to have any chance of successfully defending their title. Despite their best efforts, the match ended in a goalless draw, dashing Edo Queens’ hopes of retaining the title. Instead, Bayelsa Queens emerged victorious, winning the title from pitch 4, and got crowned in pitch 1, while Edo Queens and Nasarawa Amazons were left to reflect on missed opportunities.

The match will take place at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Field in Ayingba, Kogi State, adding an extra layer of excitement as both teams aim for a spot in the final.

In the other semi-final, a captivating battle between the Angels from Rivers and Akwa Ibom promises to deliver drama. Rivers Angels, the reigning champions and serial winners, face off against the ambitious Akwa Ibom Angels, who are eager to make their final derby appearance. With both teams hungry for success, this semi-final is bound to be a thrilling spectacle.
