The remaining matches of Lagos State League were played last Saturday, with two thrilling encounters that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The action unfolded in Ibeju Lekki and Ojo, where a total of seven goals were scored, and players showcased their raw talent and passion for the game.

In Ibeju Lekki, Utmost FC made an impressive start to their season. Despite facing the home team, Ibeju Lekki FC, they came out on top with a convincing 2-0 victory. Qudus Saka emerged as the star of the match, scoring both goals for Utmost FC. His clinical finishing left the home crowd silent, as Ibeju Lekki FC struggled to find their rhythm in their first match of the season.

Meanwhile, in Ojo, it was a goal frenzy as Heritage FC delivered an electrifying performance. They secured a commanding 5-0 win against the visiting Young Strikers FC from the Island. Nehemiah Audu was the standout player, netting two goals and putting himself in early contention for the tournament’s top scorer. The match was a spectacle of fluid teamwork and individual brilliance, with Heritage FC showcasing their depth and ambition for the title.

As the curtain falls on the first week of the season, a total of 15 goals have been scored across four matches, with two home wins, two away victories, and one draw. It’s been a weekend full of excitement, with teams setting the stage for what promises to be an action-packed season ahead.

Lagos State League CEO, Mr. Wale Joseph, expressed his satisfaction with the level of play and the professionalism exhibited by teams, officials, and fans alike. He also made a passionate appeal to corporate sponsors, urging them to take advantage of the platform to market their products and support the development of young footballing talent in the state. “This is not just about football; it’s about nurturing the future stars of the game,” he said.

The stage is now set for what will undoubtedly be a season of fierce competition and unforgettable moments. Who will rise to the top? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure – the Lagos State League is on fire!
